Some rumors just won't die.
According to Dan Graziano, the Brewers and Yankees are resuming talks which never really got off the ground at the GM Meetings last months for center fielder Mike Cameron. The rumor at the time was that the Brewers were hesitant to trade Cameron because he was pals with CC Sabathia. I guess they don't need that chip anymore.
Graziano says the asking price may be Melky Cabrera. Tim Dierkes astutely pointed out that at the time Peter Abraham had mentioned both Melky and Ian Kennedy. (hat tip

I have no problem whatsoever with trading Melky for Cameron, in theory. In practice, does the thought of having Mike Cameron as your starting center fielder really excite you? I can't say that having him in the lineup is going to do anything to improve the offense, but I suppose you can't argue with his defense, at least not
according to the numbers.
Makes PERFECT sense to me...
Cameron has 1 year for $10M so its not like he's blocking AJax for when he makes the leap. He's also better than Melky both offensively and defensively. Assuming its straight-up, I don't see the problem with this at all. Makes sense for both teams.
I don't think you can compare it to Swisher either since it is just a 1-year deal.
Looks like it's a done deal (or pretty close).

The deal doesn't thrill me. Cameron and CC are supposed to be close so maybe that's another reason for the trade.
It looks like it's being held up because the Brewers want another player and the Yanks want the Brewers to eat some of the contract.
Depending on who the other piece is, the Yanks got better through this deal. Cameron is an upgrade over Melky (this is something I did not believe last season). Still, does this lineup get you pumped up?

3. A-Rod
4. Posada
5. Matsui
6. Nady
7. Swisher
8. Cano
9. Cameron
I don't think this is a bad deal. It's only a one year commitment, isn't it? Maybe he was signed as enticement to get CC to sign but whatever the case, he's an upgrade over Melky. But he isn't the future so he doesn't fill the position long term.
ALL I CAN SAY IS THE YANKEES SUCK,LET'S SEE WHO WE CAN BUY NEXT,THEY JUST PLAIN SUCK!!!!!!!!
