The Post
has the scoop on this one. Brian Cashman again left Vegas via private jet to an unknown destination earlier today. Apparently, he was headed to a meeting with Andy Pettitte.
The Post says the message he carried with him was a $10M offer to fill the last rotation spot available (This is assuming they land A.J. Burnett, I suppose). The Post makes it sound like a take it, or leave situation, but I think that's highly doubtful. There's no reason for the Yanks to treat Pettitte like that. If he says no to $10M, fine, you let him go out and get more from someone else, but there's no need to shut the door.
Personally, I hope he turns it down and the Yanks shift their attention to Ben Sheets, Randy Wolf, Oliver Perez or Jon Garland, in that order. (hat tip

I don't think anyone would be mad at signing him for $10M for 1 year. That means he'd holding Phil's spot.
Yep. I don't really want Pettitte back, but you can't argue w/ the price or the length. Maybe he'll bounce back.
We all thought Moose was cooked before last season, so maybe Pettite can turn it around.
That said, I won't cry if he lands elsewhere. One year isn't a long commitment, but there's still Hughes and Kennedy as a possible fifth starter.

CMW
AJ
Joba
Hughes/Kennedy/whoever
Sorry, I'd give CMW the nod over AJ for that second position unless he's outpitched in training camp. Let's see they both look for that second position.
